Loud and Clear CD - Song Lyrics
CRADLE ME IN YOUR PALM
By Kevin Danzig
Held in somebody’s arms
It’s as if there are no problems in the world
Personal tragedy takes a back seat to romance
I can remember when it was us
Up on that movie screen
Only the audience knew the show
Would come to an end
And I’m longing for someone to hold
In the night
But, my prayers go unanswered
Lord, cradle me in your palm
So I can’t hear the thunder and lightning
Lord, cradle me in your palm
Love is a bitter pill
Many times
I’ve bitten off more than I can chew
I’ve traveled around the world
To the pyramids and ancient Rome
Egypt and Italy
Are no match for the love that we once knew
Given the chance to try it again
I’d act differently
And I’m running away from it all
In my dreams
Still, it’s getting me nowhere
Lord, cradle me in your palm
So I can’t hear the thunder and lightning
Lord, cradle me in your palm
The last think that I ever wanted
Was to see you in pain
Now that you are
There’s no sunlight
Only clouds bearing rain
To love you was my one desire
Never meaning you harm
So, why am I a victim of the storm?
I keep longing for someone to hold
In the night
But, my prayers go unanswered
Lord, cradle me in your palm
So I can’t hear the thunder and lightning
Lord, cradle me in your palm
Lord, cradle me in your palm
I don’t like being lonely
I’m frightened
Lord, cradle me in your palm

FINGERTIPS
By Kevin Danzig
As you wander towards that horizon
Be sure not to tread on your fellow man
It’s so hard not to focus on your life alone
But, there are people out there
In need of our attention
I’m sure you work hard
For everything that you own
But, we are all in the same boat together
Hurt somebody else
And you’re hurting yourself
It’s a scar that will brand you forever
Chorus:
Take a person’s hand
Caress a face
Hold a conversation
Handle it with grace
Carry that burden for as long as you can
Remember we are the fingertips of God
I was on my way to Heaven’s Gate
I came to a fork in the road
And wondered which one to take
I asked a man on his tractor
“Does it matter which way I head?”
“Not to me!” He said
So, I thought of that man
The hard life he had lead
And I could understand why he was bitter
He saw my foreign car, long hair and guitar
And he took me for some kind of sinner
Repeat Chorus
That farmer looked at me like I was crazy
Then he started to laugh
And he invited me in for some coffee
After awhile we got to talking
And it turned out his wife had been ill
She might die
So, I said what I could to ease the man’s pain
Feeling our fragile bond growing stronger
I offered my blessing and I was on my way
When he stopped me
And said “that path you were looking for
Is just over yonder”
Repeat Chorus

FROM HERE, (A SOLDIER’S VIEW)
By Kevin and Freda Danzig
From here I see the mountains and the ocean
I see the house I live in now and two that I grew up in
And I’m viewing places she and I once knew when we were happy
Long before the break up
The stormy night she left me
And the morning after when I enlisted
From here I see no reason for the conflict
Only Eucalyptus trees
Santa Ana wind blown fields
And I can’t help but think about the other soldiers over there
Are they praying on some mountain top
To their God above
Are they looking down upon the land they love
Oh Lord, have mercy on my soul
And if it be thy will that I should kill
Please empower me
Should it be my fate that I get sent home in a casket
Cover it with red, white, and blue
There are four things I love more than any other
My mother and my father and my country
I would include the girl
But, now the two of us are history
I will do my duty to the other three
From here I know there are those who will oppose me
They’re not standing in my shoes
If they were, they would feel differently
I promise I will do my very best to save the children
Help those who are hungry
Tired and afraid
Suffering and crying out for freedom
Oh Lord, have mercy on my soul
And if it be thy will that I should kill
Please empower me
Should it be my fate that I get sent home in a casket
Cover it with red, white, and blue
From here I see the mountains and the ocean
From here I see no reason for the conflict
From here I will set out to do what I must do
I will have no fear
I will live my truth

I GET LIFTED UP
By Jimmy Gene Salinas
I’ve see hard times
It’s been raining
I’ve felt heartache
But, I’m not complaining
Because, I get lifted up by the love of my Lord
When I’m feeling weak I can stand on the strength of his word
I’m just a man who could be lied to
By something my heart says
But, I don’t rely on it
Because, I get lifted up by the love of my Lord
When I’m feeling weak I can stand on the strength of his word
Oh yes, I get lifted up by the love of my Lord
I dare not lean on my old understanding
You see, I have made that mistake before
So, when I’m doubting which way I’m turning
I’ve just got to stop! And check with his word
I’m just a man who could be lied to
By something my heart says
I don’t rely on it
Because, I get lifted up by the love of my Lord
When I’m feeling weak I can stand on the strength of his word
Oh yes, I get lifted up by the love of my Lord
I dare not lean on my old understanding
You see, I have made that mistake before
So when I’m doubting which way I’m turning
I’ve just got to stop! And check with his word
Oh yes and I get lifted up by the love of my Lord
When I’m feeling weak I can stand on the strength of his word
I get lifted up by the love of my Lord
When I’m feeling weak I can stand on the strength of his word
Oh yes, I get lifted up by the love of my Lord

Loud and Clear
2011 Kevin Danzig
Chorus:
Let the Lord live in your heart
Let your voice ring like a bell
Loud and Clear
The word of God
For all to hear
Rejoice
For you are blessed
In the words of Jesus Christ
So share his love and spread the message
Let his light be your guide
Repeat Chorus
Reach out and raise awareness
Know the answer lies within
The door is there for us to open
Wide and invite him in
Repeat Chorus
The Lord is our salvation
From the moment of our birth
So sing a song of celebration
Sung all over the Earth!
Repeat Chorus
Loud and Clear
The word of God
For all to hear

NEVER GIVE UP
By Kevin Danzig
Keep on doing what you’re doing
Girl, you do it much too well
To stop doing what you’re doing
Get on out there and Give ‘em hell!
Never give it up
Never put it down
You’re the one to watch
You’re the best around
In the darkest night
There’s a ray of hope
Let it shine on you
Never give up
Heaven knows that
You’re the winner
In a race that hasn’t run
When it happens
One fine morning
I’ll be there to route you on
Never give it up
Never put it down
You’re the one to watch
You’re the best around
In the darkest night
There’s a guiding light
Let it fill your cup
Never give up
You may not be known to the masses
That doesn’t matter to me
In my eyes no one surpasses you
And the world may not know it yet
But, if I can help it
You’re gonna get your chance
Keep on doing what you’re doing
Girl, you do it much too well
To stop doing what you’re doing
Get on out there and give ‘em hell!
Never give it up
Never put it down
You’re the one to watch
You’re the best around
In the darkest night
There’s a ray of hope
Let it shine on you
Never give up
When the world is overwhelming
You can call me
Anytime
I’ll be right there
In a hurry
To relight your inner fire
There’s nobody
Anywhere
That does it quite like you, my love
Keep your hopes high
Trust in God
And never, never give up

Not so close
By Kevin and Freda Danzig
Casual the conversation
Nonchalant our smiles
We were passing trains,
Proclaiming bread and butter
Mindlessly meandering
Like blind mice in a maze…
Masquerading for each other
We were close but not so close
To fall in love with one another
Dear but not so dear
To show the world we cared
And the least we could have done
Would be the most that we would end up doing
Close but not so close
Awake yet unaware.
Angry and resentful
Tired and afraid
Gliding through our lives on auto pilot.
Preoccupied and isolated
Donning our disguises
Sensing our demise
While still denying it.
We were close but not so close
To see the burglar in the window
Near but not so near
To place the call for help
And the least we could have done
Would be the most that we would end up doing
Close but not so close
Thinking only of ourselves.
I suppose the point that I am trying to make…is
we were way too cool
we were far too clever
To be taking chances
To be making mistakes
We were close but not so close
To view the chaos all around us
Kind but not so kind
To put an end to pain
And the least we could have done
Would be the most that we would end up doing
Close but not so close
To see the rainbow through the rain.
Times have changed now,
The two of us are seeking new horizons
Bonding with our inner feelings
Realizing we are one.
Now we’re close, so very close
To remembering our purpose here
Clear, so very clear
We know the time to act has come.
And the most that we can do
Is the least that we will ever do
We’re getting close, so very close
Showing kindness to someone
Showing some kindness to someone.
Show some kindness to someone.

PEACE TO US ALL
By Kevin Danzig
Let me tell you about what I saw
Turn the TV off
Say nothing at all
I had a vision while I was sleeping
And if you only knew what I was dreaming of
You would be envious
Because what I saw was
Just what you’ve always wanted
All of your life
Peace to us all
Chorus #1
I saw the walls come crashing down
I saw scenarios aroused and exalted
I saw the walls come crashing down
I saw the barriers of every realm fall
Peace to us all
Let me tell you about what I heard
Turn the radio down
Don’t say a word
Something happened while I was sleeping
And if you only knew exactly what occurred
You would be envious
Because what I heard was
Just what you’ve always wanted
All of your life
Peace to us all
Chorus #2
I heard the walls come crashing down
I heard the countless cries of Alleluia!
I heard the walls come crashing down
I heard the guns of battle silence their call
Peace to us all
Peace to us all
Repeat Choruses 1 & 2

SOMETHING IN HIS EYES
By Kevin Danzig
“Whatcha got there in your satchel?
I haven’t eaten all day
I’m hungry as a bear
Hey stranger…
Could you spare a little somethin’?”
Without hesitation
He offered me some water and some bread
His water was like wine and the bread
Was the best I’d ever tasted
He looked a little familiar to me
I knew we had never met
It struck me as peculiar
He wasn’t wearing any shoes
His feet were as clean
As if he had just washed them
The rest of him was covered up with dirt
I could tell from our embrace
It was as if I’d always known him
I could not place the face
Something in his eyes made me want to cry
Then again, those very same eyes made me smile
Something in his eyes, I tried to avoid
Then again, those very same eyes brought me joy
Something in his eyes
After we had finished
I said how good it was and I thanked him
He told me I was welcome
I asked him where he got his food
He said, “you know that great cathedral
Over off of PCH?”
I answered, “yes I do!
As a matter of fact I’ve slept there
In a doorway once or twice”
He said, “me too”
And that he had been sleeping there last night
Something in his eyes made me want to cry
Then again, those very same eyes made me high
It was around about that time
Out of the corner of my own eyes
I could see a face I sorely recognized
That of Officer McCoy’s
He said, “I’ve come to take your new found friend
Downtown to the station for some questioning
Possibly more”
But, before he could apprehend him
My homeless friend was walking out across the ocean
Via Newport Bay
So I turned to that policeman and said
“He’s gonna get away!”
But, that cop was frozen
Paralyzed
Dumbfounded
There was something in his eyes
Something in his eyes

SWEET RAIN, PURE RIVERS, CLEAN SEAS
By Kevin and Freda Danzig
Sweet rain, pure rivers, clean seas
Sweet rain, pure rivers, clean seas
Every boy and girl
Living on this planet
That we know as “Earth”
Has a right from birth
To a piece of land
Free of any poisons
To a patch of sky
Free of acid rain
It would be a shame
If they couldn’t have these things
If they had to labor as one
Cleaning up the mess we’d left them
Sweet rain, pure rivers, clean seas
Sweet rain, pure rivers, clean seas
Man has gone beyond
Reaches unimagined
Underneath the waves
Drilling deep for oil
Now a monster grows
Killing as it ebbs and flows
Spilling onto beaches
Seeping into soil
It’ll take some time
But, if we work together
We can set an alternate course
And put an end to all this madness
Sweet rain, pure rivers, clean seas
Sweet rain, pure rivers, clean seas
You may be thinking
It’s not your job
If you’re thinking at all
It’s important we do our share
We’re just like everyone else
Think about the children
Think about the ones that you love
Think of Mother Nature
And then think about yourself
Sweet rain, pure rivers, clean seas
Sweet rain, pure rivers, clean seas

THE SMILE OF MY OLD FACE
by KEVIN DANZIG
I WASN’T AT ALL MYSELF
BLACK AND WHITE
MY PICTURE OF HEALTH
I COULDN’T MAKE UP MY MIND
I WAS WRONG TO THINK I WAS RIGHT
AND THEN
MY MIRACLE HAPPENED
I WOKE UP ONE MORNING
AND TO MY SURPRISE
CHORUS:
THE SMILE OF MY OLD FACE
THE ONE THAT I HAD LOST
THE SMILE OF MY OLD FACE
WAS IN MY MIRROR
THE SMILE OF MY OLD FACE
WAS COMING ON SO STRONG
THE SMILE OF MY OLD FACE
RETURNED WHEN I FOUND YOU
CONFUSION AND SELF ABUSE
CAME AND WENT LIKE SHIPS IN THE NIGHT
MY HEART WAS AN OPEN BOOK
READ AND WEEP
THE STORY OF MY LIFE
THEN
MY MIRACLE HAPPENED
I ASKED YOU A QUESTION
YOUR ANSWER WAS YES!
REPEAT CHORUS
I FEEL THE MUSIC
I’VE GOT THE INSPIRATION
I NEARLY LOST IT
I WONDERED IF I EVER WOULD
FEEL THAT OLD FEELING AGAIN
YEAH YEAH
TOMORROW WILL ALWAYS BE
MY EXCUSE FOR LIVING TODAY
AS LONG AS YOU STAND BY ME
I CAN REST IN PEACE AND REMEMBER WHEN
MY MIRACLE HAPPENED
I WOKE UP ONE MORNING
BELIEVING IN GOD
REPEAT CHORUS

WHIPPOORWILL
By Kevin Danzig
All the evidence before me
Written on the wall
Tells me love is my downfall
You know, it doesn’t seem right
There’s a prisoner inside me
Crying out for help
Looking out of his cell for a sign
All he sees is himself
Whippoorwill
I know you’re out there
How I wish I could fly
Far away from my emotions
Whippoorwill please tell me what it’s like
To be free as a bird
Light as a feather
I’m in need of a cure
No doctor will prescribe
Cinderella was my true love
Or so I once believed
‘Til she married that prince of a thief
Who ran away with my heart
Whippoorwill
I know you’re out there
How I wish I could fly
Far away from my emotions
Whippoorwill please tell me what it’s like
To be free as a bird
Light as a feather
I’m in need of a cure
Please, tell me what it’s like
Like a blue, blue sea
On a cloudy day
I’ve been cold, I’ve been gray
All I need is the son, (of God)
Point me in his direction
Whippoorwill
I know you’re out there
How I wish I could fly
Far away from my emotions
Whippoorwill, please tell me what it’s like
To be free as a bird
Light as a feather
I’m in need of a cure
Please tell me, won’t you tell me what it’s like
Whippoorwill
Whippoorwill
Whippoorwill

THE LIGHTHOUSE
by Kevin Danzig
Once
On a warm and cloudy day
Near the Bridge Of Lions
We were casting off to sea
Calm
Was the ocean
At our backs
Was the wind
The word "relax"
Our motto, one might say
'Til all at once
Out of nowhere drawing nearer
Was a storm and it appeared
We all might lose our way
If not for the lighthouse
If not for the lighthouse
If not for the lighthouse
Tossed over swells of the sea
Helpless and abandoned
Lost without any sign of landing
Drop the sails and hope the hull
Is worthy of withstanding
Chances are I wouldn't be alive to tell the tale
If not for the lighthouse
If not for the lighthouse
If not for the lighthouse
All alone in a sea of people
How was I to know
That the light of the world would shine down over me
In time to save my soul
If not for the lighthouse
If not for the lighthouse
If not for the lighthouse
We would all have drowned or been devoured by disaster
Had it not been for a beam of light
Piercing through all kinds of weather
Linking ship and shore together
We may not have made it through the night
If not for the lighthouse
If not for the lighthouse
If not for the lighthouse
